On the night of November 17th, we were hoping to photograph November's full moon, which is named the Beaver Moon according to Farmer's Alamanac. However, we had a lot of cloud cover and humidity. On November 18th, we had clear skies and a beautiful night, so we photographed the moon at 99% of full, an almost full moon!
From the Farmer's Almanac website:
This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.
